Reading the names on this trophy really sums up how important the Manx International has been over the years.
You could be forgiven for thinking it was a very British affair, but Tour de France winners, world Hour Record holders and Classics riders have all made the trip to the tiny island out in the Irish Sea – in part due to the lucrative appearance money.
The names of past winners has now outgrown the trophy and the engravers have resorted to using the bottom of the base to add to the roll call.
In many ways, it’s probably the most significant trophy in British cycling.
